What do people talk about when they have nothing to say? The weather. I don’t have much to say so I’m going to let you know it was 100 degrees here today. Tomorrow the forecast is for it to be 103 degrees. If only that could melt my fat away.
Speaking of fat, there must be something about being overweight that makes the entrepreneurs of the world think we are stupid too. Ohh, I know what it is…we keep spending money on anything that promises we will lose weight. After doing a few posts about what we put in our mouth, I’ve become very interested in reading the ingredients of what I eat. I’m going to carry that a step further and examine a few over-the-counter diet pills. It’s been a long time since I’ve tried any so I’m going to discuss a couple that I have seen advertised.
Let’s start with TRIMSPA baby! (may Anna rest in peace)

It promises to “help stave off hunger while helping to keep you feeling satisfied” and “has been clinically demonstrated to improve weight loss results over diet and exercise alone”. Straight from the website. What’s in it?

Other Ingredients: Di-Calcium Phosphate, hypromellose, Polyethylene Glycol, Stearic Acid, Croscarmellose Sodium, FD&C Red #40 aluminum lake, Titanium Dioxide, FD&C Yellow No. 6 aluminum lake, Hydroxypropyl Cellulose, Magnesium Stearate, Microcrystaliline Cellulose
Now don’t go running out to make your own homemade version now that you have the recipe. Although you might want to try because this stuff costs between $20-$40 a bottle (depending on where you buy) and they recommend you take 4 a day. blah, blah blah blah blah. I’m boring myself with this……….
You know what? I’m no expert. This stuff might work. They have testimonials on the website. Most of them are NOT pretty people by any stretch of the imagination so I’m guessing that they really did lose weight by taking TrimSpa.
There are only TWO things I want out of this post:
1. To let you know that ANY diet supplement will work if you want it to. You still have to eat only when you are hungry and exercise. If you were able to do that though, you probably wouldn’t feel the need for the pill. All they do is make you hyper with caffeine. But if you’re going to eat the candy bar, your going to eat the candy bar. If your taking pills you may just eat it faster. That is why I am following the Beck Diet Solution, I want to change my thinking.
2. I dying to hear from some of these “before” and “after” models on some of the diet websites/commercials. Are you real? Are you still skinny? What possessed you to run around the beach in a swimsuit that was 3 sizes too small to begin with? (I’m talking to you Hydroxycut girl) Ladies, do the pills make your skin darker, because you all are awfully tan in your after pictures. Now that you’ve eliminated the threat of heart disease and diabetes you think you’ll take your chances with skin cancer? Men, do the pills make your chest hair fall out or something? Did getting skinny make you leave your wife because you are always draped with a young hot chick in the after part of the commercials? Speaking of that…..
Did you notice how the men are surrounded by models after they lose weight in the commercials and the women are always running and playing with their children in the after part of their commercials? I will buy the pills that show a grandmother surrounded by 20 year old pool boys in her “after” life.
And I leave you with this…

I guess she really IS happily married.

Most fat burners can exhibit side effects, and Trimspa is no exception. One seldom referenced is the one caused by glucomannan, which is included in this formula.
For some people, these pills can occasionally get stuck in the esophagus and cause a blockage. Although this seems a bit far-fetched, a clinical study (Clin Toxicol (Phila). 2007;45(1):80-2)
indicated glucomannan-based supplements can pose a hazard for individuals with upper gastrointestinal pathology.
