The promise of a healthy, energetic life filled with smaller size clothes does not seem to be enough to motivate me these days. I’ve decided to turn to bribery. I will be bribing myself with material things to motivate myself to drop the poundage. I have been buying myself a small gift every time I reach a five pound milestone. I bought an Italian charm bracelet and every five pounds I lose, I’ve added a charm…
I’ve only managed to accumulate THREE
So in addition to the reasons I have listed on my Advantage Response Card, I am going to reward myself with following items:
When I get to 220lbs*……

White gold earrings
These are not the ones I want. I’ve been eying some at Costco but I couldn’t find a picture of them. I wear hoops almost everyday and I ‘ve been needing to invest in a better pair.
*I never thought I would be looking forward to weighing 220lbs
When I get to 200lbs…

A new Coach wristlet
I bought one of these last year and I have used the crap out of it. Small enough to use as a wallet and stick in a large purse, but you can carry it by the little strap and take it out to eat without having to haul around a big handbag. My cell phone fits in it too.
When I get to 180lbs…

A laptop
I’m not sure what brand yet but all I know is that I want it to come in a really cool color because I’m the type of moron that will buy expensive gadgets because you can get them in fuchsia, candy apple red or lime green. FatHubby I’m sure could refurbish an old one for me and spray paint it, but I want a new one.
and finally….
When I get to 160lbs…

A NEW CAR!!
I really want a new Honda CRV. I currently drive a 1997 Accord and other than the windows not working and the automatic door locks being possessed by Satan, there is not a thing wrong with it. I really, really, really want this new style CRV. Of course in a couple of years when I finally reach my goal, it will the old style CRV.
Losing all of this weight shouldn’t be a problem. I won’t have much time for food after I get my second job to pay for this stuff!!

how about you can buy those things for me? yeah, that works! we just set up a huge dry erase calendar with our names on it (i have two housemates) and each day we get a gold star for exercising, a silver star if we eat well/healthy and each of us has to choose a “secret” goal and you get a red star on the days you work on that goal and you tell the other two what it is when you accomplish the goal! so far (day 3) it is kind of fun and feeds into my reward/desire for visual confirmation of accomplishments!

I love this post. I’m totally in favor of your self-bribery system. I hope you get that car.

You made me smile with your rewards and how you were going to have to pay for them.
I should do that too — I actually had a really nice bracelet that I bought but made my best friend hang on to it until I broke 250. She felt so sorry for me because it took from November to February to get it.
I hope you get the car too! But I love the earrings and laptop too. Good post!

What an awesome reward system!!!!
I wish I could do something similar, but I live with the biggest penny pincher in the world.
Good luck in reaching ALL you goals and getting all your goodies!

Love this post!
I’m doing material rewards, too, every 10lbs. My first 10lbs, I got a pedicure. After that, it’ll be new jeans (NICE ones), a scuba hoodie from lululemon, new running shoes, and at goal, two swimsuits! I might have to re-think my next goal, because I’m desperate to replace my ripped up jeans right now.

You’ll be totally stylin! Maybe broke, but stylin!
I had set “sexy new designer glasses” as a reward, but then my eyesight got so bad that I need them ASAP! Not twenty pounds from now.
My final “reward” is a string of pearls. I simply cannot wait!

“I’ve only managed to accumulate THREE.”
Tisk, tisk, SFF.
“I already have earned THREE!” is how you should be thinking. 15 lbs is nothing to shake a stick at. You should be proud. Judith would accept nothing less.
Keep up the great work and soon you’ll be driving that new CR-V!

Bribery is a good thing.
Have a great holiday weekend!
Take care, CF

Just a Coach wristlet for a milestone like that? To go with your laptop and SUV — because I know you WILL get there — why not skip Coach and go straight to gucci.com?
Proud of you –

Hi, just stumbled on your post while Googling pictures of a Sony laptop. I am in the process of researching one as a reward for hitting my weight loss goals too! (I’m just not self-confident enough to blog about my progress!) Kudos to your perseverance, and I look forward to reading about your new car in the future!
