I Can’t Be Trusted…

to make my own decisions when it comes to eating. I am too lazy to cook so I end up eating things that aren’t contributing to my weight loss efforts. So I made a decision last week. Today I have started Nutrisystem. Yep, I’m going the prepackaged food route. I don’t think I will stay with it until I lose all of the weight I need to lose. I just need something that I can do for a few months and hopefully jump start my weight loss. After about three months I’m thinking I will incorporate more “real” food and hopefully be more in control.

This was my breakfast

Two blueberry muffins. I’m supposed to also have a serving of dairy or protein and a piece of fruit with this, but I need to go to the grocery store. The key to enjoying the prepackaged food is NEVER try to compare it to the real thing. Are these muffins as good as the ones you get at Starbucks? Of course not, but they were pretty tasty. They also only have 100 calories/1.5 grams of fat for both of them. I’m afraid to know what the ones at Starbucks have.

I have not been weighing everyday. I actually haven’t weighed in about 2 weeks. I’m afraid of what it will show. I know I feel like I have gained back all of my weight. I am going to weigh-in on Friday though and I will report it here. I think I might report it everyday. I might even do a little review of the Nutrisystem food. For lunch I had…

Chicken and Pasta in Cacciatore Sauce

The NS website uses this description of this dish:

The combination of tender chicken, onions, tomatoes, black olives and spices are sure to tempt your taste buds. Plus we’ve added jalapeño peppers for extra flavor.

Now, I don’t know about all that.  It comes in one of those microwavable lunch-bucket type things like ravioli or chili comes in.  Like I said earlier, it is what it is, not the real thing.  Although I can’t say I’ve really had homemade Chicken and Pasta in Cacciatore sauce, so I don’t have anything to compare it to.  It was pretty good.  Maybe if I read the description while I eat it, the power of suggestion will turn it into the gourmet lunch I want it to be.

I can’t wait until I can go grocery shopping in a bikini like the lady on the commercial

  • If Nutrisystem is easier for you than trying to make helpful meals on your own, then that’s a good way to go. Good luck! I look forward to reading about your progress.

  • hey, if you have a camera handy can you maybe take pictures of the dishes so we can see what they really look like vs. the promo pic?

Good idea. I think I will do that.

  • Good luck to you!!!

I look forward to turning the aisle in the grocery store and seeing you shopping in your bikini. You’re a brave girl!!! ;-)

  • I was reading a book (blanking out on the name) and her advice was to go out for meals (at carefully selected restaurants and preplan your meals) for the two weeks until you get your bearings. I think what you’re doing is very similar and I applaud that you’re thinking of alternate things for weight loss.

  • I can not say Nutrisystem worked for me but I will tell you that in 6 months I lost 50 pounds with it.. So it does work.. this was in the day when you went to their centers locally.. I went to the one on Greensprings Hwy.. near where the old comedy club used to be. bad thing was that there was a Little Ceasar Pizza right near it.. and that could be somewhat distracting.. lol.. however this program can work.. MUCH MUCH LUCK TO U.. and the food really is not too bad.. u can take do IT.. !!! I promise!!!

  • I am also on Nutrisystem! You left a reply on one of my threads. I just wanted to say that you are a very talented girl! I love your writing and will stay tuned for more!
    Good luck on the program!

  • I concur that Nutrisystem totally works. Make sure to add your own fruits and veggies – very important! You need those extra calories. Love your blog! I’m an AFTER who became a BEFORE again. Sigh.

  • just stopping by to see who NS is going
    Hi!

  • It’s funny that you decided to join Nutrisystems recently, because I just decided to join Jenny Craig! I haven’t actually signed up yet, though. I’m waiting until January, after all of the holiday craziness is over. My goal right now is to lose “some” weight so that I don’t go into Jenny Craig weighing more than I do right now. I’d love to compare notes with you about the food/cost.
